Founded in Footscray, Victoria, by husband-and-wife team Gareth and Emma, Mr. Negative was created to share their passion for film photography with the world. Recognising that the future of film depends on innovation as much as tradition, they set out to create something truly original — a concept unlike anything seen before.
Our Founders
Gareth brings over a decade of international experience as a Key Account Manager and Global Sourcing Manager, having lived and worked across Australia, the United Kingdom, Vietnam & China. During this time, he designed and supplied furniture, garden décor, and outdoor heating products to one of Australia’s largest retailers. This commercial expertise, combined with his deep appreciation for art, music, and fashion, laid the foundation for the distinctive and design-driven identity of Mr. Negative.
Born and raised in Vietnam, Emma dedicated herself to mastering the English language from a young age. This led to a successful career in the airline industry. When the COVID-19 pandemic brought global travel to a standstill, Emma transitioned into a Global Sourcing roll with an Australian-owned business in Saigon. It was there that Emma met Gareth — a meeting that would ultimately spark both a partnership in life and the foundation of Mr. Negative.
